IPHRD-Africa is a non-profit, non-partisan organization registered in Kenya as a Non–Governmental Organization (NGO) with a local, national and international status. The broad objective of IPHRD-Africa is to promote a human rights approach to governance and peace building for sustainable development in Africa.
IPHRD-Africa values justice for all and inclusivity, we value participation by all stakeholders in the society. IPHRD-Africa targets the following groups; women, men, youth, children, the aged, persons with special needs and other minority groups. IPHRD-Africa is therefore committed to conflict transformation, building and strengthening unity and social cohesion among the communities through applied research, lobbying, advocacy, capacity building, support to policy development and sensitization activities to enable the populace influence the political, economic and social decisions, in their communities and society. To achieve this, IPHRD-Africa seeks to establish collaborations, partnerships and networks at all levels including at the grassroots, national and international levels.
IPHRD-Africa is committed to supporting the achievement of Sustainable Developments Goals (SGDs), the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and Kenya’s Vision 2030 thus accelerating poverty reduction, and strengthening post conflict reconstruction and development while incorporating a human rights approach. The strategic direction of the organization will be achieved by building on existing strengths, capacities and on-going programmes as well as exploring new opportunities and programmes. The organization’s work is designed to positively transform socio-economic structures in order to reduce poverty and violence among people and above all promote human rights, justice, peace and sustainable development. IPHRD-Africa recognizes that successful structural prevention leads to sustainable economic development, democracy and respect for human rights, viable political structures and healthy environmental and social conditions, with the capacity to manage change without resorting to conflict. To contribute to this, the organization has therefore adopted a people-centred approach based on a participatory approach, team work and consultative processes
